The Ghost month festival is a tradition to make offerings to the “Hungry Ghosts” during the 7th month of the lunar calender. It is believe that the hell gate will open for the ghosts to be released for a period of 30 days. It is also known as the “Hungry Ghosts” or the “7th Month” festival.

During the festival, temples and household will set up temporary praying points to pray to the ghosts. Most of the items offered are made of paper, they will be burnt at the end of each day hoping that the ghosts will received. Except food stuffs which will be used by the owner for good fortune and luck.
